So it's been about a year since my last post, and because of it, I think my account on the original blog was deleted. So this last year I've been playing a good amount considering I'm at school now. So since I really can't remember many hands or games that have happened more than probably 2 or 3 weeks ago so I'll get right with the biggest tournemant cashin so far in my life.
It started last Friday night when Mesisca asked me to play in a 44 person tournemant 60 dollar buy in with him in Delaware on Saturday. Since I couldn't come up with the buy-in he staked me, in return I would give him 50 percent of my winnings. The tournement started, and I came out in the first hour and turned my starting 1500 in chips to about 3700. I only played 2 hands, the first was AK offsuit. There were 3 callers when I raised about 4 times the big blind. The flop came Ks Jc 7s. The first to act raised 200, the next two people folded, and it came to me. I decided I would just call this because if he had a flush draw he most likely would call any raise, even an allin. So I call, the turn comes a Kd, giving me trip kings. He raised 200 more, and now I either had him on a KQ K 10, or a flush draw. So I decided to push allin. He though for about 5 minutes, and actually called. He flipped over an ace high flush draw, and the river was a blank. The next hand I won was I called with Qc 9c and 2 people in, flop is Kc 7c 9d. He bet I called. Turn came a club, he checked, I checked. The river was a blank, he bet and I raised and won taking down a good sized pot.
Mesisca went out early goin up against aces. He had JsQs, flop comes Jd5s6s, the one guy raised, he went allin and couldnt hit a spade or a queen or jack.
Then there was one hand I was dealt AQ that I feel I made a very good play on. One guy raised, me and someone else called. Flop comes Q 5 6, no flush opportunity so far. First guy bets about 500 which was 1/6 of my chip stack. The guy before me called, and this scared me because he must either have a Q, a set, or a pocket pair above queens because he played very tight and sneaky over the course of the tournement. I ended up folding, off the turn which had to be a blank to them, the first guy raised again, and the guy I was worried about went allin so I feel he had Kings, and Mesisca who watched the hand agreed with me. Over the next 2 in a half hours, I played at most 5 hands, looking at my chips size dwindle to just over 2000. I then lost another 1000 trying to bluff at a pot because I needed chips badly, the blinds were sky rocketing. So I'm down to about 1200 with 400 800 blinds. I go allin with Q 9 offsuit, 2 callers, flop comes A K 5. One of the people raise, the other folds. I thought my tournement was over, but he flipped over J 10. He had a flush draw but my queen high stood up and i doubled up. Then about 4 hands later against the same guy, he goes allin preflop with A 8, I have JJ. I call him, double up again, and just like that I'm second in chips.
I cruise to the final table still 2nd in chips. I go allin a few times since the blinds were 500 1000 and win the blinds. It gets to about 4 people left and im short stack. I get A 6, 22, and KQ three hands in a row, go allin preflop in all 3, each time no callers, so i doubled my chips stack because the blinds were so high. Then eventually it was down to 3. The chip leader had a dominating advantage over everyone, then i get dealt AA. He puts me allin preflop, I call him, he shows K J. I double up and now chip leader. Then I get dealt KQ, raise, then an allin by the short stack which wasn't many more chips to me. He had K 8 and didnt hit which put me in the chip lead going into heads up. Then I get 66, he raises, I go allin. He has AQ. He hits a queen on the flop. 2 hands later i get dealt 33. He has K6. 2 pair ends up coming on the board and I end up coming in 2nd taking 500 dollars. 250 of it went to Mesisca. I am very dissapointed that I didn't win this tournement but I can't be angry at making 250 dollars. There is another tournement at my school on saturday that will probably be around 25 people with a 40 dollar buy-in, so hopefully I play and cash in that game, and if I don't that will be my next blog update.
